The problem with a CMS

The problem with a Content Management System is very similar to issues with a lot of text and authoring editors.

They can introduce tags / code, which get the job done, on the face of it. However, some may lack any agreement as to whether such code is compliant with regard to accessibility. Indeed, it is not their primary job.

That said, modern editors have a function whereby the source code can be manipulated or edited, to tweak code into whatever you wish. Use it.

Common issues are;

  • Handling of special characters.
  • Inputting incorrectly, code for images, tables and paragraphs.
  • Some insistence that they are right.
  • Blanket disregard to the particular standard used, as declared in the document header.
  • The editor is question, may not have a feature whereby the document type can either be selected, or known.
