Contextual ads are advertisments which are related to the general theme of a webpage.
  • If the page has a central theme about dog biscuits, then the advertisments would ideally reflect that theme.

Why use Contextual ads.?

Like all advertizing, the object is to make money, directly or indirectly.

Some examples of contextual advertising.

A well known and used example is Google's adsense.
  • By copy and pasting some Javascript code into a page, the rest is automatic.
    • This code is specific to a publisher, in order to record, trace and attribute, any earnings where they apply.
    • Of course, the page must be saved to the server.
